Sushi workshop

Overview

  • We’ve been running Japanese food workshops since year 2007 —over 450 in total.
  • Focus: an entertaining and hands-on experience. Our chefs have lived in Japan, studied Japanese culture/language at university, and are passionate fans of Japanese cuisine.
  • We’re flexible and tailor the content to suit your event.

Venue & Duration

  • Duration: 2 hours (hands-on making) + eating afterwards.
  • Location: at client-chosen venues across Estonia or at Sushimon’s space Tartu mnt 84a, Tallinn.
  • Capacity:
    typically up to 25 participants at our venue;
    by agreement up to 60 participants at your venue;
    for larger events, a rotation-format for up to 300 participants is possible.
  • At our venue: room rental 2,5–3 h = 90 € (+ VAT), capacity up to 25 people.

Room Requirements

  • Each participant should have a small tabletop and a a seat.
  • A power outlet for a kettle.

What does the workshop include?

  • Miso soup with Japanese toppings for all participants.
  • Sushi making:each participant makes 12 pieces in total (a mix of Western and Japanese styles).
  • Stories and explanations about Japanese food culture, plus the chance to write your name in Japanese.
  • Included: pickled ginger, soy sauce, wasabi, chopsticks.

Menu per person

Miso soupmiso, tofu, shiitake, wakame.
Western-style sushi::

  • Philadelphia maki – 5 pcs (fresh Norwegian salmon, cucumber, cream cheese, sesame seeds)
  • California uramaki – 5 pcs (snow crab, kampyō—sweet Japanese marinated gourd, fish roe)

Japanese-style sushi::

  • Roe gunkan – 1 pc
  • Prawn (ebi) nigiri – 1 pc

Sides: pickled ginger, soy sauce, wasabi, chopsticks
Special requests: with prior agreement we tailor the menu for vegetarians and other dietary needs.

How Much Does It Cost?

  • Base fee: 230 € for the workshop.
  • Ingredients: €20 per participant.
  • Additionally: transport fee (about €15) or room rental (≈ 90 €) and VAT.

Ingredients & Availability

  • All ingredients used in the workshop are included in the price.
  • Afterwards, the same ingredients are easy to find in Estonia (e.g., nori.ee, umami.ee, epromo.ee).
  • Some specialty items may be exotic and be brought by the instructors from Japan, to provide an authentic taste experience.
